Been running this for years, its one of Calvers ones.
I built the engine a few weeks ago and its probably done 5 miles at most in 1/4 mile spurts at Avon.
Went to pull the primary gear out and the bush had stuck itself to the crank, awkward as its still in the car, had to take off the drops case and carefully chisel it off. For some reason its shrunk.
There are no marks on the crank and no signs of fretting or pick up on the inside of the bush, the other primary gear goes on and spins freely. Very odd.
Anyone heard of these bushes shrinking for any reason?

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I'm sure these bushes were the early ones from Calver that we had to put a chamfer on the inner edge to prevent rubbing on the radius of the crank. So is it pos you put it on the wrong way round and its rubbed got hot and shrunk. Its about the best I can come up with.

I'd have thought it would be the chamfer as well - it may just be a tolerance thing - has the bush blued up?

JK

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

Its not the chamfer, there are no marks on it, still shiny. Ive been running this particular bush for about 5 years, never had an issue with it, fitted it the right way round etc.
It has simply shrunk

I seriously doubt it!

could the outer cir cumrerence of the primary acted with the inner circumference of the crank to roll it smaller, like an english wheel?
