Bit of a strange question (and I don't get on well with the search function) regarding exhaust manifolds, but I'm guessing that there will be someone here who can answer it.

I'm currently using the n/a MG Metro/RSP Cooper cast iron LCB with a set of Maniflow downpipes (it is an absolute bugger to work with - to get at the clamps properly you have to remove the engine steady and the breathers) but it is quieter than a tubular manifold and I'm told it flows quite well.
I'd like to fit the MPi cast iron manifold, as I want to use the lambda sensor to keep an eye on my AFR) but I don't know how it flows and the wretched thing doesn't fit !!
Talking to a few knowledgeable people, it would appear that I may well be the first to try and fit an MPi manifold to a small-bore block sat on a remote gearbox. The downpipes touch the subframe and the gearlinkage, and the three-bolt flange will not do up or seal tightly...

Beraing in mind that I'm pretty set on keeping a cast-iron manifold as it is quieter than a tubular one, the question is this:
Will I be better off getting a set of custom downpipes made by Maniflow to allow the use of an MPi manifold with the Rover positioned lambda sensor, or would it be better to install lambda takeoffs onto the downpipes I have already ?

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

Are you intending to install two lambdas - you say takeoffs (plural) in your last sentence - in which case I've used the MG Metro cast manifold and standard downpipes and just welded the bosses on the mild steel part.

However, this is with a rod box, not a remote.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Your setup is along the lines of what I was thinking if the MPi setup isn't viable. The reason I put takeoffs plural is that the Rover manifold samples both halves at the same time to give an average reading. At the power/rpm levels I'm looking at, I don't think charge robbing will be a major problem.
