Im getting my act into gear on my 1380 tarmac/track car, and basically all the major stuff has been done, just need to wire it up now

Im going to wire it competely from scratch, and never done this sort of thing before, so have a fair few questions that I cant get answers to from the haynes book of lies.

Its running weber with, leccy aldon red dizzy, and a 'sports' coil (for now, will stick mj on once its up and running)

1) Now i know the feed to the coil needs to come on with ignition, but what fuse size will be adequate?

2) I have one of ben_h toyota mungrul race starter on it that apparently draws much less current than std (anyone have a ball park figure btw?), will 8mm^2 wire suffice for this? or will it start to melt? (i only ask as I have loads in the shed)

3) Where can i buy an oil pressure switch thats worth putting on, i think the std one lights up at a ridiculously low pressure, and read on here somewhere you guys tend to upgrade to one that comes on about 25psi? Is this off another car?
(looked on MS, ebay, Miserysport etc with no luck)

4) What fuse for the red top pump? 10A iirc?

5) Where have i left my muiltimeters? got 2 and cant find either!!!

Cheers

Joe

1: I would not fuse the coil feed just run direct.
2:I have always used 10mm^2 but if its a racer you might get away with 8 do the maths
3:I got mine from Ebay.
4:15A in a racer.
5:look where you left it *tongue*

Cheers paul

The reason i want to fuse it is incase it comes free off the coil, or somehow it shorts to earth, just dont want a fire under there, or am i being ott?

is this the right one?

15psi still seems pretty low?

I have never fited a fuse to an Ignition live but if want to 15A should be safe

I use the MiniSpares 20 psi sender but it is presently out of stock:

I've never fused an ignition supply to the coil, use a booted spade connector so if it comes off it is unlikely to short. If you do fuse it I douby the current draw is very high - 15A would be much more than adequate.

The starter may draw less current but the bigger the wire the less the voltage drop.
