we have been discussing at length (at work of course) which is the better machine for the money the sceniario would be joe blogs walks in to a show room to buy a "nearly new" one.

so which is the better all around car, and why ?

i like the looks of the focus over the vxr, but within second hand vehicles (and new come to think of it) you seem to get alot more for alot less with the VXR

Really Nick? I know you have a civic for a dailly, but having been in a brand new CTR last week, I was horrified to find it genuinely had less torque than a microwave!
I'm a big fan of both, but for me, the VXR is just more special somehow....

new rule no french cars....... not to cause offence but i dont rate them, seen how they come apart at accidents and the build quality is very poor (from the cars i have seen)

and nick the Type R could not pull the skin off a rice puding mate :)

never been a fan of disastra's and the focus just doesn't do anything for me, at least the civic's nice to look at. i reckon the turbo diesel civic with a remap would fun too.

The Type R really is nice to drive, you don't notice the lack of torque with the neatly stacked gear ratios but they are thirsty and how hard is the suspension?! Plus they don't handle anywhere near as well as the EP Type R and being NA aren't as tunable as the VXR or ST.

The RS weighs a ton, what is the point in a 300BHP front wheeler when it's nearly as heavy as a 300BHP 4WD anyway?

Can I admit that if I was in the market for a new car it would be the new RS Clio 200?

If the Cupra was a 3 door and a bit prettier I would consider that but the winner would be the Mazda 3 MPS for a pratical second hand hot hatch for me I think.

Sorry this post isn't much help, more of a ramble from me actually!

Shropshire.

I had an focus st-2 and was one of the best cars I have owned, just a pity that they attract scum who don’t want to pay for them.

I have a mate at work with a VXR and its shite in comparison, and that’s no an opinion, it just is.

if the new RS is as good as the old one then it will be a laugh. i had the old focus RS and it really was an awesome car to drive. that was with standard bhp!

the thing just stuck to the road and didnt need 4 wheel drive. i had many a "spirited" drive following much more powerful cars and there was no way they would get away, in fact they couldnt keep up.

hahahaha, are the astra's really that bad ? the downside to the focus is it is a heavy pig with a thirsty volvo lump in it and parts would be expensive.......GM are known for reasonable prices for parts, but build quality perhaps not as nicely finished as the focus...... but which has the better NCAP rating ? i know the VXR has 5*

right perhaps a competition to find the best hot hatch for 10 - 13k no more than 3 years old.

points gained for performance, sheer good looks and of course NCAP ratings :)

you may post french vehicles too hahahah

i have found this one to start us off

http://www.evanshalshaw.com/vehiclesearch/...qs=false&type=1

i am a fan of the VXR sorry.......can you get a same spec focus for this money find me one of those lovely green ones for this money and i will be converted *happy*

Why would anyone want to be seen in a Vauxhall? Look shit, drive shit, have the wankest indicater stalks which I wanted to rip off after 30 seconds, total shit.

Same goes for the Manta Capri srgument from 20 years ago. A manta was cheaper, but you'd want to be in the Capri.

Not a vauxhall man, no. Never had one never will.

I drive a Subaru Legacy 3.0R Spec. B, does that make me a trendy dad?
