OK I have had the engine running all be it with a slight exhaust leak and all seemed well. I bed in the cam and set up the actuator preload so there was very little boost, flashed a very safe map to the MJ and went for a very brief drive. All seamed well, no det that I could tell and only a few PSI on the boost gauge. Another brief jaunt and all seemed well. As I pulled up the driveway it stalled and refused to start. I had spark and fuel but it wouldn't start. The next day it did start and idled for a while but now it's a non starter again. It turns over nice and fast but then it stops sudenly and labours the starter as if it's tight. I have swung the timing and I am pretty sure it's not kicking back.

Any ideas? I am fearing the worst, like something has came adrift. It's not completely siezed and it doen't go tight at the same spot. All seems well in the valvetrain department (as far as I can tell with the rocker off) and I have been really carefull with the engine buildup. Oil pressure is fine, compression test showed all is OK, the light smoke from the exhaust is starting to clear up... I don't know what to do next!

Could there be anything wrong up at the timing chain end?

Any advice appreciated!

EDIT: P.S. The leads are the right way around too.
