Hi all,

I currently have a n/a engine putting out around 90-100bhp. I don't know the exact details on what is inside as I have never stripped it. Its an A series (not +), 1399cc, seems to have a high lift cam, standard rockers, straight cut gears and a 3.2 C/W.

I'm looking into fitting a T2 to it using the mirage kit.

The engine has only done around 7000 miles since it was rebuilt by the previous owner. I am going to get round to re building the engine, but that will be when i can get a run around car.

What I'd like to know is, do you think the current engine would put up with low boost?

I'm guessing I will need new pistons in there, what would you recommend?

Also, I know theres going to be some work needed getting the compression ratio right, but I want to keep the large capacity to help with lag.

So any help is great

Cheers

Kyle

Ps I've found a T2, plus actuator and forge dumpvalve for £110, is this a good deal?

For what you want I'd suggest a CR of 9:1 and use an intercooler. You need to work out what CR you have now, and then see if head-work, or new pistons with bigger dishes, or both are needed.

You will need to change the cam, there are a few options, do a search to find what might suit you best.

The other stumbling block, is that the head you have is likely to have large valves. This isn't good with blown engines as the area between the valves gets thin and is liable to crack.

Also you wont get much lag with the T2.

Ive bought an actuator and T2 seperately for about £45 altogether from the Bay. dumpvalves always seem to fetch good money. Id say thats about right, show us some pictures..

Got the turbo and dump valve for £100 after, hasn't arrived yet.

Cheers for the advice all.

Plans have changed now though, I have picked up a 1275 SPi engine. So will be turboing that now, full rebuild of course.
