Im having a bit of a stupid moment, and have confused myself with too much thought

Im fitting a 10min delay relay to my water pump and fan that works without the key being in.
Here is the diagram that came with it:

The +AC bit to pins 1 and 4 is what is confusing me.

Pin 1 ?
Pin 2 Earth
Pin 3 Permanent 12v
Pin 4?
Pin 5 Ive sent this to another relay to fire up the pump and fan

Are 1 and 4 a 12v supply and the switch is a push to make to fire up the relay?

Thanking you

That is very confusing. Is there any more information written on the side of the relay?

At a guess I would say AC means the accessory position on the ignition switch so you need the key in and at least turned to the first position to fire it up but it will then still run on the timer with the key out from the "BAT" feed.

EDIT - another thought, it might be so that it only works with the key in and turned (the "BAT" feed just being to avoid high currents going through the ignition switch)

Take a rear window as an example, the timer is there to override the switch but it will only work with the key in.

EDIT 2 - just seen Graham has said the same...

Best try the various combinations and see what happens....

I would agree that the +AC is a feed from the accessory circuit as Rod points out. Pin 1 is an input from a switch.

BUT - wired as per the diagram I doubt it will do what you want. Being a HRW relay I think the wiring will only make the relay stay active whilst the key is in - take the key out, you will lose the ACC voltage and the relay will turn off.

For your purpose I would try wiring a permanent live to pin 4 as well as 3. Pin 1 is a momentary live feed from a momentary switch.

Cheers chaps!

That is all the information that came with it unfortunately

I was planning on using a permanent 12v for all the supplies so that it will run independently of the ignition.

Right I shall give it a go tonight if I can muster up the enthusiasm and let you know

How do you plan on creating delay?

I knew I was being spastic and missing something obvious. I'm going to blame it on relay and delay being too similar

It was as we suspected

Pin 1 Switchable 12v, momentarily joined by a switch to active it
Pin 2 Earth
Pin 3 Permanent 12v
Pin 4 12v from the same source as pin 1
Pin 5 Ive sent this to another relay to fire up the pump and fan

Glad you posted this, I got one of these from VWP and thought I was being thick when I couldn't make head or tail of the crap diagram. For what they cost you'd have thought someone could have put a little effort into it.
