Hello listers

I am currently building a Mk3 Mini with a T2 turbo + Mirage manifold. I want to have a very civilised car (a touring machine, actually, able to do a lot of safe, comfortable motorway miles at decent speeds) avoiding as much as possible every possible kind of discomfort, being it noise or heat or fumes.

What about blocking off permanently the big speedo hole in the bulkhead, as per the latest Minis? Right now the car is completely dismantled and ready for painting, so it is now or never.

Incidentally, I will be using the classic three-dial oval dash.

What do you think you guys?

do you mean the hole the speedo cable runs through? are you not going to use a cable? i do quite a few motorway miles myself and decided to fit a load of sound deadening carpet etc but to no avail! still sounds like a tank no matter what you do, is fine up to about 40 mph but avove that is crap if you find a way let me know to!!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

There is a std blanking plate that goes over that hole anyway with a grommet in for the cables to pass through.
Yeah get one fitted otherwise all the smells and noise will come through, not what you want (although a lot of people like it!) *smiley*

cant you just make a plate and then put some sealant around it to keep the gases out, then its there just incase you need it (though i cant see why you would ever)

you can mate, there is a std part though that you can get. not sure why they all didnt have it. or whether they used to get removed or something. just holds in with self tappers.
