What is the tallest insert you can fit into a 12g940 head and are they top hat in design?

Has anyone sucessfully welded between the valve seats?

I have never encountered top hat inserts. Just simple rings.

welding cast iron is no mean feat..it is bound to fail unless you have it done by someone why really knows their stuff. ( extensive preheating needed to about 500c Deg)

look at pinning it
