Hi Guys,

Whilst changing the oil the other week i noticed a bigish piece of metal on the sump plug. On closer inspection i could see that is was one of the teeth from the final drive pinion! So out came the engine and i have a new final drive to put in.

I just need to know what torque i need to do the bolt that holds the final drive pinion on. All i know is that it took two massive bars to get it off!

Cheers,

Guennie

I find the easiest way is to super glue the bolt to the end of one of my fingers.

To be honest, as tight as you can was what i was meaning *happy* doubt many have a torque wrench that goes up that far.

Not fair, I have to put the Volvo on top of the gearbox to hold it whilst trying to stand on the very end of the torque wrench. When you have a 15" torque wrench and only weigh 9 1/2 stone it's a real pig trying to torque it up to 150ft lbs!

oxon

get a bit of scaffold tube and extend your torque wrench with it, increases your mechanical advantage making it eaiser for you, ie doubble the length half the force needed.

I either bolt it to the workbench (with strategically drilled holes)...or get my rotund mate to sit on it lol
