Right lads,
Quite a few of you are there around 200hp 5port?

Im gathering bits together to build another engine, when funds and time alow.

Whats the limiting factor when you get to that stage, is it just a combination of allsorts or is it just specific things.

Ive also go a k1100 head that could go on and turbo but am trying to find out whats stopping the 5port>

Thanks Rick

Rick i honestly think N/A would suit your car better. Perhaps a 7 or 8 port?

leeds/wakefield.

5 ports take a whole lot of boost to make big power, whereas multi valve engine appear to make big power with a lot less boost,

however there is only so much power you can use,

I want a kad motor, no real reason just remember seeing scruffys prob 10+ years ago and fell in love.

The reason for the turbo initaly was low cost (well still is for bhp per £)

This is exactly my point, stick with a powerful NA motor and youll have one serious track motor.

Look at Jim at llandow and then look at Endaf in his Mig

Chester

there are some very good 5 ports who's owners are on here a lot. It supprises me how quick the cars are, Nic's car for one pulling into the 12's this year.

Will and Bens 998 shocked me when I saw it last year at a sprint, it was a rocket.

Both cars seems to make good use of the power as they get in down onto the black stuff.

IMO - as an outsider looking in.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I have to say I'm intriged to see what a 5 port can do with a basic T3...

Apart from the head, exhaust manifold and turbo elbow (all on order from Benross) the rest of mine is fairly standard, ie, MG Metro N/A cam.

My only difference to most is the new siamese code fuel injection.

Apart from the fact I'll be running a helical box, I assume my upper limit is the T3, everything I've read on here says it is limited to 180 anyway...

I will see on Oct 16/17 at the TM RR/RWYB days.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

You can do it on a reasonably standard bottom end.
Concentrate your funds on the head, intercooler, hybrid turbo

i disagree with Mike, run N/A (unless he is taking the piss again) i used to race a full works 1430 14:1 CR and they are so problematic its a joke....one set of plugs to warm the car up, one set of plugs for racing...... trouble cold starting, trouble hot starting..... very low lifespan stick with forced induction matey

8 porter with a supercharger may be interesting...........or even turbo'd would hate to think how expensive manifolds would be to take the Turbo. i raced against Green and whites 8 porter which was a monster ! so with a spooler on top it could prove very tasty indeed

Agree with nic. Power is got from efficient turbos and ICs and a sorted head.

The only problem I have with 5-ports is the difficulty in injecting them. Although I think the siamese code is a good idea, It's not for me.

and problems with mini's is all the power is wasted fighting the torque steer etc etc. if there was a way to 100% eliminate this then the world would be in the palm of your hand

As silly as it sounds , i like the thaught of starting it and swaping plugs and it coughing and farting, makes it sound fun.

I supose in the real world it would just end up being a pain.
