Three Questions:

Do these ( http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...n-eezibleed-kit ) work?

How do they work?

Is there a better method of bleeding brakes on your own? (i currently use a 2 person kit)

Edit to fix linky!

I've got one and have never managed to get it to work properly. Could never get it to seal on to the top of the master cylinder

Mine has completely revolutionized the way I bleed my brakes. Normally I totaly avoid doing any work on the brakes as I know while I bleed them I will lock up the nastly bias valve on the bulkhead leading to a whole host of problems. This time I got an ezybleed thingo and within minutes I had a firm pedal!

I have one and hate the thing. It never bleeds the brakes properly, always has loads of air in, never seals and you end up with fluid all over your nice paint.

I have a oneway valve now, plenk it on the end of the nipple and pump away. works for me anyway.

i love mine, easy to use. just dont exceed air pressure limit or it will blow the seals.

I swear by it, wouldn't do it any other way now, BUT....

re. all the leaks - just follow the instructions and connect it to a tyre that is nearly flat, only a few psi.

If you connect it to your spare or nearest front wheel, it WILL leak everywhere, especially the connection to the master cylinder reservoir.

Mine is years old and came with a mass of different adapters so I've been able to use it on every car I've wanted to. Maybe the newer versions don't have so many imperial adapters ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

how many PSI are we talking? 5?

i have a crap bold wheel at home so that can be used.

Anything to not have to try and get the missus to help me again!!!!!

Exactly as Rod says - mine is at least 20 years old and bleeds the twin circuit Metro brakes first time every time.

3-5 I would say, there is a figure in the instructions but I've long since thrown them away.....

The other tip is start with your master cylinder reservoir lower than normal - not too low to uncover the ports, but low.... When the easibleed forces the new fluid in under pressure, the air above the fluid compresses so the level rises towards the seal. Obviously the amount it rises is a lot more if you are using excess pressure. This rise in level is permenant because you close the last bleed nipple before releasing the air pressure so the fluid has nowhere to go, so it may be up at the cap/seal level when you go to unscrew the adapter and hence pours all over the paint.... With the plastic reserviors you can see it but with the steel ones you can't.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Yes,5-8 psi and no more. Also you get through quite a lot of brake fluid, but do finish up with a firm pedal.

Probably justme not having instructions then. I have two. One was in the boot of a scrap car I bought and the other was in a job lot of my Dad's old tools

i loved mine until it broke... always found that i had to run round doing the 2 person method just to make sure everything was out tho... I found it made life easier with the missus as i didn't need to ask for her help for so long.

Andy.

I've got one. The leak issue goes away if you take time to ensure a good seal and only use a few psi.

Kinda defeats the object but brake bleeding performance is enhanced if you push the brake pedal down as well.

However, I now use a hand operated motorcycle brake vacuum bleeding kit which you control at the bleed nipple to pull the fluid and air from the system rather than push it. As there is no positive pressure, you don't get any leaks. Fab piece of kit.

OK its £35 or thereabouts but its well worth it.

Lots of outlets but try :

Good luck with your choice.

If you wrap some PTFE tape around the thread it usually sorts out any leaks.
