I have finally started making progress on my build so the time has come to show all you people what I have been up to.

I managed to source a shell that is in remarkable condition, never had a new panel in it's life apart from the front valance. It's as close to a heritage shell as I think is possible.

The car then went off to "Mintec Mini Spares" in Newton Abbot to have the rear arches tubbed and turreted. They have done this several times (including on Prawns car) and is something I didn't feel I could do to a high enough standard.

Turrets made up

Original cut out

New one in

Arches were then tubbed

Excess sheet metal was cut off

The finished article

Really happy with how they came out.

I'm in Plymouth buddy, but the car is staying up at my dad's garage so I can take advantage of all our kit.

In the process of lightening the shell as much as possible.

Front end got hacked off

I used the inner wing brace as a guide to cut up too. I'll run a butt weld across those top to stop the panels from separating.

Remains of the spot welds were ground back and on this side the scuttle corner was perfect. Unfortunately there are one or two tiny holes on the other.

Moved onto the rear door bins and seat squab.
Oxy-acetylene torch worked a treat to remove the sound deadening *smiley*

Seat squab was shortened.

Door bins were removed, like a muppet I punctured the inner sill with my cold chisel. So next time the welders out i'll have to fix that.

Ground back all the spot welds and after a quick coat of etch primer I was left with this.

Still have to do the other side and tidy up the seat squab, hoping to head up next week sometime to finish it off.

its recommended to put a patch from the inner sill to tie it to the door frame anyway, so dont worry about it

what cage you got in mind for this?

I wasn't aware that a patch was needed although I was going to put a small one in to hide the join/hole where the door frame meets the sill.
Cage wise I will be putting something pretty comprehensive in. Most likely Custom Cages Miglia spec one.

Yo Froggy! It's great to see after 5 years of helping me build mine, that you've finally got the chance to do a better job of your own!

Car looks ace man. really glad you've finally got the project underway.

People: This man plans things, big time. I've been seeing spreadsheets planning the entire spec of this car, evolving over the past 4 years at least!

I know it's going to be something REALLY special :)

Just got to learn to drive properly now froggy *wink*
