Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

So, what did everyone run? i got faster with each run and ended on a 13.7 @ 100mph. pretty happy with that, car never missed a beat. I was only aiming to get nicely in the 14's but once i got a 14.02 i knew i could go faster still.

I think with taller FD, slicks and a LSD 12's would be possible.

I managed a 17.0 @ 79mph with a 2.6 60ft. Also got a near identical 17.0 but terminal speed was 71mph and that had a 2.7 60ft.

We need some gear dependant boost control as the tyres were loosing traction all the way through first and the logs just show it sat at 6000rpm for a few seconds :)

A good day though, my first attempt at drag racing and i enjoyed it, will hopefully go to a few more rwyb as the pod is only 15mins away from home. Just need to get the racer ready for october *happy*

edit: 998cc efi turbo with a non strip friendly 2.95 diff

13.93 @ 103mph i think ,clutch slipping wildly !

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

not really!

Only reason for the low terminal is the 3.9 diff and hitting the limiter before the end of the strip!

I saw Fastcarl got a 11.069 in the twinny.

The jet car was pretty impressive with a 6.001 and 268mph!!

60ft is on 032's with an open diff. I really wasnt getting a lot of grip.

A lot of head wind knocked a lot off peoples times/speeds

I noticed that too

First two runs of the day without gas were a 16.41 and a 16.18

with 25 shot of gas I managed a 15.85, that was almost the same I did at Avon without gas.

Messed about with the gas jets, and ended up with a combination courtesy of Fast Carl (I'll stick them in the post mate *wink*) to give a very rich 40 shot of gas. I eneded up taking 10% fuel out of the top line on the fuel map to get a result.

reaction 0.4817
60ft 2.4005
330ft 6.5091
1/8th 9.8507 @ 74.70
1/4 15.2078 @ 89.79

Ran a total of 16 runs through the day *hehe!* Bottle is now empty *happy* and the engine and box still in one piece, even after the near catastrophy on the way there Saturday. The bodge fix made the round trip *hehe!* Cannpt believe none of the trade stands had an oil relief dome nut!!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

The best I managed was a 17.1, next year that engine is definately going in the bin and a serious turbo engine is getting built.

Embarrisingsingly on my third run the pin that holds the slave cylinder to the clutch arm mysteriously fell out as I went for second, the result was grinding to a halt and needing towing to the finish.

My mate managed a 15.4 in his turbo mini that we literally threw together 2 weeks before the event.

It was a good weekend.

Second run of the day was the best time at 15.3something @ 86mph, spent all day trying to get it to pull cleanly above 7,000 but without success. It was pulling clean to 8,000 on Thursday, even in 4th (private road obviously) and today it just wouldn't happen. Tried everything I could think of, but it still ran like a burst arse, only thing I can think of is the fuel had gone off? Gallon of fresh juice tomorrow and see what happens.

Good to catch up with people again, and more amazing times.

Oh aye, and a big thanks to Matt Woods!
