hi, im rebuilding an engine for my mpi daily drive at the moment.

just wondered what the benifits of changine the core plugs in the block were?

from what i understand they are only into the waterways, so any minuscule particles in there will only circulate the water system anyway?

aslo are the drilled out and then tapped back in with some sealant?

cheers

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

just put a screwdriver through them and pop them out. new ones i normally tap in dry but im sure some people use sealant.

Its pointless not doing them and when they're out you can clean the waterways better.

Yeah, i tend to puncture them with a punch, and then hook them out. Then just tap the new ones in using a socket so it goes in square.

Worth doing if the engines being rebuilt.

was going to just flush the waterways out with a hose pipe.

was worried that if messed with they are more likely to leak.

cheers for the fd by the way oli.

They are not expensive...worth doing. Another thing...I can't stand them painted!

I just tap them in the corner with a punch, makes them spin round so you can get them out, then just clean up the block with a flap wheel or wire brush on a drill/die grinder before fitting the new ones
