I need a 3/8 drive socket extension bar that is 2.5" long (shorter would do just as well I think). 3" seems to be the norm and my googling is letting me down.

Anyone know where I can get one?

Thanks in advance

i have, in a pickle made them before, if you get an extension thats longer, jsut cut the end off and grind the 4 flat's into the bar. its not that pretty, but it works.

Can't you use a deep socket or a flexi joint?

Isn't a universal joint about that long?

Already got a deep socket and UJ, but still need an extension. I'm changing sparkplugs on a subaru *Shooting*

Think I've found a 50mm one which is just about 2", failing that I'll try making one as suggested

Thanks

what you need is an extension thats *just* too short, what you do is put the extension + sparkolug socket in the hole, then put the tip of the ratchet/bar into the extension and crack it, then wind out by hand on the extension. i have about 5 of such extensions, they must be a common size.

For this job what you need is a snap on spark plug socket with a built in flexi with extension. Not cheap but it makes the job a piece of piss and only take a few minutes.

Like this one http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P6...re=&dir=catalog

I have one if you don't live too far away.

Cheers for that, I didn't know about them. You are a bit far from me but appreciate the offer. Got it done now :)

I've got a 5/8 plug socket with a UJ on it, and eventually found a suitable length extension bar at a local tool shop. Toolstation supposedly had one but turned out to be a mis-print in the catalogue *oh well*

Ive never had a problem using the short Halfords extension and their flexible head ratchet.

In fact, many others fit in too, it really isnt hard at all. 30 min job on a bad day.

Obviously remove airbox on drivers side, and washer bottle on passenger side. You can remove the battery too, but it isnt necessary

If its a COP car...be very very very careful removing the coils so you dont damage them
