When I first joined up with the RAC I think I managed to wangle a small discount by doing it via my credit card company- Capital One at the time.

what are AA charging? without european cover we pay £70 odd, that for the car though, but it was the same price to do it for an individual.

thats for roadside and relay iirc

We paid £75 for European Cover with Flux for our Camper, but that covers up to 3.5 tonne.

The Missus and I have been with the RAC for well over 10 years on their personal cover and we have never needed to call them.

The missus broke down earlier this year with a sticking EGR valve which was promptly replaced. The renewal notice came through and there was a note that if we call them out again the premiums will have to go up!! Bastards!!

If that becomes the case, I will tell them where to stick their cover, and Im off to join the AA. So much for customer retention and sales.

" We will be happy to take a monthly premium to insure you for breakdown recovery, but if you call us, we will charge you more"

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I get a 'No Claims' type discount with the RAC. Will be interesting to see what happens at renewal time sinse I had the mini recovered from south of brum to home...

Nic, have a look at the RAC cover you get with bank accounts - I think you can add to that and get the whoile package a bit cheeper

You can bugger off if im paying to keep my money somewhere

Id rather spend more on membership, than pay each month for a bank account

We have a pay for joint account. It gives us free travel insurance and saved us an expensive call out for the boiler in the old flat. Worth it IMHO, just depends on your own situation.

If you have a TSB account you get AA breakdown for nowt. Trouble is, is it is to the nearest garage. Which is abit crap. Ring the AA up...they will upgrade it to full relay to your home...£50

I have personal cover with RAC which includes for everything apart from homestart and onward travel. They will still collect me from anywhere in the UK and take me and my car to the destination of my choice (home with the mini).

The renewal came in at £142 this year! so i rang them up said it was to dear and they dropped it to £74 without any haggle!
