If its really tight you could open up the holes on the turbo? Not the nicest thing to have to do to a new turbo but may only need 0.5mm each hole.

Have you tried tapping it on with a copper mallet?

Dont worry

I was looking at the inlet of the compressor housing wondering what the hell that flange was from.
It wasnt until I read your post that i realised it was already on the manifold

It all looks a bit wrong to me! The oil return on the turbo core is facing up too! I think it all needs rotating

Double check the angle of the core (the bit in the middle with oil feed and return) to BOTH the turbine section and the compressor.

The clamp bolts can be loosened at both ends and both sections rotated to get the alignment right.

From the photos, it looks like this one has been assembled all wrong for a Metro/Mini, was it intended for something else ???

EDIT - be aware that when you rotate the turbine or compressor end, the length of the wastegate actuator rod will change, so will need adjusting

is that exhaust wrap with the stuff you spray on afterwards?

I've got some black stuff for me manifold this time round as the white stuff i had before was itchy and horrible and fell to pieces.

Itchy? What were you wrapping with it? *oh well*

But yes this is the white stuff, I got what I am told was the best stuff from DEI and then sprayed the lot with their black HT Silicone paint. Painting it is a lot better than just using bare wrap.

I used the 1" wide stuff, dont know how much but it was a lot more than you would think. The paint is amazing stuff, just makes it totally waterproof which in turn means no oil or grease can get on it either.

I was but no one bought it, I'm not going to leave it just festering so I'll carry on with it, if I end up selling it then it'll be more complete and more sellable.

The two I took a apart recently had both locktabs and lockwire, however, the new studs I bought aren't drilled for the lockwire so I'll just use the locktabs.

I haven't been able to find a source for new ones so will be using the originals (with a lot of care).
