My trusty 150cc, 4 stroke Briggs & Stratton lawn mower has started spewing white smoke out of the exhaust. Before I start stripping it any idea as to what the culprit might be? Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

white smoke? interesting! Have you tried changing the oil and filters?

As it's (presumably) an air cooled engine, I would say contaminated fuel (ie, water got into tank or fuel can or it's been contaminated by diesel).

my guess is bore/rings excessively as it chucks out white smoke.

the briggs engines suffer from the seal perishing between the fuel tank and the motor might be worth a look Crystal Sound Audio said:

On a more serious note. I have one that spewed out white smoke after mowing at a silly angle. I guess the oil had passed the rings. After a while it cleared. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk
