Guys, I'm in desperate need of some help here!

I ordered some 5mm wheel spacers with longer studs from minispares, to allow my ultralights to clear my front brakes, and minispares have sent me the wrong length studs.

The studs I've got are 10mm too long, and do not have enough thread on them to allow me to cut them down! I've tried tapping more thread on, but the studs are hardened, and it just blunted my die :(

So, I desperately need some studs to suit 5mm spacers, there just isn't enough thread left with the standard studs to be safe. I think I need studs around 40mm long, compared to the standard ones about 30, and the minispares ones that are too long at 50mm.

Also, the 19mm rear spacers I've fitted are too big, and I need to drop to 10mm spacers to stop it rubbing. I've got 10mm spacers, but there's not enough thread on the longer studs (for the 19's) for me to cut them down for the 10's. The long studs I've got currently are 80mm long, so I need some 70mm studs for the back

if anyone has any, and you're on the south coast anywhere, I'm more than happy to travel to collect them.

I'm in desperate need chaps, as I'm going on the BH2N run on wednesday morning at 7am, so I HAVE to sort this out either tomorow or tuesday!

so, if anyone has any studs that might suit, either 40mm or 70mm, that would be amazing.

Alternatively, if anyone's bought either a 5mm spacers kit for the front, or a 10mm kit for the rears with studs included, and you've not fitted it yet, can I PLEASE buy them from you, I'll happily order anyone any new stuff that's needed to replace.

if anyone has anything, please reply in here, or text me on 07866678842. I'm in plymouth currently, but travelling up to basingstoke on tuesday, so can travel anywhere

Big thanks for reading this..

Nick

I know it doesnt help, but why are you messing with the car this close to the run, lol, Id have had everything done last week and used this week to be sure everything was right with it. Shit happens I know but wheels dont just happen.

Is there nowhere you can go tomorrow to pick them up in person?

These are close to Plymouth, well, closer than most http://www.bjautobits.co.uk/

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I'm messing with the car this close, because I work in guilford and the car was stored in cornwall! I've come home on friday, with all the bits I need ordered, and in theory everything should have been a straight swap.

Oddly, the clearance issues have only just happened when fitting new pads at the front. Being a sliding caliper, the brand new thicker pads have moved the caliper outward slightly, and it's started rubbing the inside of the rim badly.

As for the rears, I totally forgot there wouldn't be enough thread to drop down to 10mm spacers.....

Bit annoyed really, everything else has gone perfectly.

Cheers for the BJ link Sprocket, I'm driving up the 303 tomorow anyway, so that's PERFECT!

if they don't have anything, I've also found Minis R us is very close to my route, so I'll try them as well.

argh! I've just found the cause of my problems up front!

post 84 mini's had 31mm studs on the front, and pre 84 had 35mm studs. when I got my metro flanges I just kept the studs that came in the flanges, which are 31mm sad.gif

if I had some 35mm standard studs, the extra 4mm of thread would be enough to let me run my 5mm spacers.....

On the back, I've found my studs are 78mm with 27mm of thread. if I go down from 19mm spacers to 10mm, and chopped 9mm off the studs, I'd in theory still have 18mm of thread left. So, so long as I can tighten the wheel up to the hub before the nut bottoms out on the thread, i MIGHT be ok. Will report back later!
