After losing my rag with the search function and the odd thread I did find not seeming to be conclusive I thought I would get the old camera out.

I need the 12 bolts to fit the gearbox to the block, standard size, 7 short and 5 long.

All the same thread (whatever that is) but the blue ones are longer that the red.

I found 3 short and 1 long one which fit, I think they are the right ones.

Red: 3/4" thread
Blue: 1 1/2" thread

With my metric tap set I guess them to be 6mm 0.9 pitch, but after that it means nothing to me and doesnt help as their not actually metric.

so, an anyone help with what size these are and where I/we can all get some from.

PM TurboDave. He'll send you a set of hardened allen bolts for not a lot of money.

Will have a specially sized allen key to get them in too.

Allen heads there.. Don't get me started. You've already got the best of the best. 1/4UNF 3/8 AF bolts. The best!

Sorry Dave :)

Two of them, the ones above the diff casing, are usually studs and nuts as the proximity of the diff casing stops the right length bolt from going in.

Also, you're missing one in your photo - the dowel at the top left is hollow - a nut and bolt goes through it with large thick washers, one is a special shape.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i use allen head bolts, unbrako ones and they work a treat!

they're not difficult to get out and better than the cheap hex head bolts by a million times.

We spent months on it, will move it to the homepage shortly so it's easier to find.

There is no problem getting socket cap screw head bolts above the diff casing. A cut-down allen key makes life easier however!

Vegard, He doesn't have them already:

Or if you're feeling flush you can buy the short ended allen keys from snap on for about £20 a set. I found them real easy on mine.

When you find a cut down allen key with a ratchet on it I'd agree *wink*

That's easy - the cut off bit of the allen key and a ratchet spanner of the same size.

I thought that about the studs & nuts, i've got another block here that has those 2 studs but this one doesnt.

Well spotted for the longer bolt thru the dowel, thats included in TurboDaves kit :)

Looking at mine more closely I'm now thinking the two studs/nuts are a throwback to the magic wand / remote boxes where access was even worse.

The pdf Gavin posted shows them as either bolts or studs (item 4 on the table to the right).

The PDF gavin posted is not 100% accurate though - it doesn't show the 5/16 bolts in the diff housing...

I use MS24665-8 bi-hex bolts, the head takes a 5/16 socket.
