What with the talk in the for sale section, i thought you guys might be interested in seeing my SA based engine :)

The cranks been backdrilled, crossdrilled, wedged and balanced. Specialist components H-section rods
MED's Omega lightweight 73.5mm pistons.
Piper bp300 cam and 1.3 roller rockers
The block is a pre A+ with 225thou irrc skimmed off the top.
Its got a trackday head from Southam M&M centre with isky springs and titanium valve caps.
It all breaths through split 40 webers with 36mm chokes *happy*
Clubman s/c gearkit, 1.08 drops and a 3.6 final drive (about 3.9 combined)

For all that you get an 1188cc motor with 90bhp at the wheels, and potentially millions of rpms?

I wouldnt know what peak rpms are at the moment as i'm having a little bit of trouble with what sounds like valve bounce at about 7500rpm... It's still plenty of fun till 7000rpm tho, but it could do with lower gearing, something in the region of 3.7 combined.

Have fun with yours *tongue*

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I have one of these too. It is a really nice engine now. Mine is based on a pre A+ block skimmed 7 mm. Its bored to 73.5 mm and I now have one of Keith Calvers cams in it. It is very driveable now, but I think I have the same amount of HP as before. (95 at the flywheel, on Norwegian rollers *tongue*)

BTW its a 1191 cc engine, not 1188 as the stroke is 70.3 (slightly longer than the 1071 S).

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
