I've been preparing for an MOT on Tuesday.

Big puddle of fluid on the floor when I started the car this morning. Thought it was fuel so removed the boost pipes and turbo inlet flexible to check the fuel lines. Still no clue where it came from. Smelt like petrol *frown*

Anyway, put it all back together and thought we would modify the turbo inlet flexi to get the filter a bit higher up.

The proper K&N turbo filter just will not fit so we've been using a filter sock as a temporary measure, which to-date has been OK.

First run on boost and and it went pear-shaped. Lost boost. Lifted bonnet. No filter sock. Found it in the turbo inlet.

No damage except that the vacuum created has pulled a load of oil past the compressor seal and filled the boost pipes with oil *frown*

I've re-fitted the sock and taken it for another test drive and all is well.

Fingers crossed for the MOT.

As some will know, I hate those things with a passion. What makes it worse is that I have been forced to run them for the past 3 months as K&N let me down and the ones I then ordered were another 5 weeks in the post.

Another thing I have found with these 'socks' is that they still let gritty particles through, I found that inside of the throttles, which just made my opinion of them worse.

Glad there was no damage.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Found the fuel leak.

Loose hose clip on the 3 Bar fuel rail *surprised* *surprised* *surprised*

Only leaked when it was cold.

Odd, very odd.
