I have acquired a set of hardy spicers that i am thinking about fitting.

Now if i do this i will have to redo the diff cage etc that is in the box now, BUT i thought what the heck i may as well fit a cross pin if i am going to take it apart anyway.

SO, will a hardy spicer setup work with a cross pin diff?

You can get some adaptors to connect to the pot joint ouput shafts.

I'll see if I can find a link.

Swiftune sell them, but you can get them cheaper elsewhere I believe.

Although Swifty lists them as being for the ATB diff. They can be used on any pot joint output shaft.

I reckon Carl could make you a pair, no idea if they'd come in cheaper mind.

I could never understand the theory behind these as its the pot joint output shafts that are the weak link, which is why people use the hardy spicers.

Yes you will have to fit the HS output flanges in the diff, which will need dismantling to do so.

I bought a pair of HS output flanges to find that some one had turned them down to fit a standard diff side cover. Seemed to work a treat in that respect.

having never had a cross pin before will i will be bale to take ti apart and fit the hardy spicer outputs on to it? Is that right or am i getting confused with what i need to do?

I have the joints the diff cage and the side covers.

I always thought that the outputs shafts from the diff were different?

The output shafts should fit no problem.

A hardy spicer diff used the same cage as any other mini diff.

you will also need the four collets, two rubber seals, and the two large (special) bolts.

I cannot find anywhere that can supply the large bolts, so ended up buying a standard bolt and used a smaller thrust washer from the radius arm shaft, just dont tighten them up too much as those washers break.

This does seem a lot of money for little if no advantage. I think I'm one of very few on this forum who've broken a pot joint. They are very reliable.

Infact, perhaps Somerfords can supply these bolt. I'll give them a call tomorrow and find out.

I swapped the whole setup for a 2.95:1 FD setup!!

So got it for a bargain i think.
