As a quick question, I have just been figuring my mounts for my Bini Blower (Front mounted/Blow through). I figured I would have to lose the dizzy but now it fouls the oil filter housing as well (for fucks sake!). Apart from that (and a lug I have to hack off the blower) it fits perfectly.

1. Does anyone know of a remote filter bearing car I could poach the gubbins off?

2. Was any A/A+ car fitted with a take off on the block instead of an oil filter (that would be really nice).

Stu (should have bought a clubby) (in fact, should have never got into bloody minis)

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

Yes,share. I want a gobbin that I can screw directly into the block where the filter normally resides.

No, not quite.

I had a "Mr Smartypants" idea of using 2 self contained bearings and a 90deg gearbox and shaft driving the blower which would be sited over the clutch. It was after dark last night and I discussed it with a mate, all the parts are feasible. He went home and I went back to the garage to have a look. The frigging engine bay and particularly the clutch area had seriously shrunk. No chance.

So, the blower fouls the oil filter mount, the dizzy and is looking close to the starter motor. The best case scenario is that I can get the thing mounted up without fouling the starter, the engine will have to be tipped back which will bring about exhaust problems (not sure how much).

Ideally, I want to mount the blower with the intake inwards, make my own flatish collector and have that facing the inside of the grille. It is increasingly looking like I will have to mount it in front of the head, sunny side up. (Serious space concerns with the bonnet catch, area)

So, if all goes well, I will have to build a remote filter come hell or high water. I will start by tapping both holes (to the same size and fitting a pipe (threaded fittings). But that would be far too easy. Looking at the face which bolts up to the block, I think mine has a hole I could either tap or bodge a bit of pipe into.

I would rather have a neat looking proper job though.

I'm on the case and will update, as and when.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

I cut a piece of 6mm plate to a diameter 55mm, then drilled a hole in the centre to suit a 1/2" B.S.P. hydraulic pipe fitting. Also in the plate are the two holes to pick up on the original oil filter mounting holes. The pipe fitting was the welded to the plate. I then made a gasket and fitted!! Remote filter housings are available from merlin motorsport or any hydraulic parts speclialist.

No it doesn't.

What is has got is a sandwich plate for a take off to and from an oil cooler radiator, the filter is mounted on the front of the block.
However not much use on anything else unless the thread is the same.
