I've come across a problem I really wasnt expecting today.

Turbo inlet manifold went on fine but I cant fit my carb *oh well*

As you can see throttle arm swingy bit (getting technical now) touches the manifold.

I have a thicker black spacer piece but even that doesnt do the trick.

Am I missing something obvious here *oh well*

Something definitely isn't right there - if thats an HIF44, the throttle quadrant should be on the other side.

Looks like an N/A carb to me. Have you converted it Zero?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

When I test ran my engine with a carb to confirm the dual widebands were working, I had exactly the same - N/A carb on a turbo inlet manifold...

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

yes it is an N/A carb, not converted yet but I do plan to as it was running sweet as a nut on my N/A engine.

even if I move the throttle arm to the left side its going to have the same problem, and some people on here even swap the arm on a turbo carb to the right side as they only have an N/A plate.

I've been digging around for pictures, havent found many but I'm wondering if the arm itself is different to most and is a lot bigger...

stoke-on-trent

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=2878 in that thread you will see the difference in the throttle, as brett says pretty much round rather than oval

I had this problem when I modified my carb to take the TPS sensor. As Brett says the arms are very different, I'd take a punt and say the turbo one is designed for a more progressive throttle response than the NA one, possible due to the increase in mid-range torque. One option is a NA MG Metro manifold as they have a lot more clearance. I think I ended up going for a combination of: spacer, turbo throttle linkage & filing the manifold slightly, as it was a blooming tight fit.
