I've taken a day off cutting/grinding/welding to assemble the subframes/suspension.

I bought the "genuine" HiLo set from MiniSpares (because of the larger spring area) rather than their "budget" kit but the two plastic plugs (that came with the rear extension rods) to plug the drain holes in the rear units are completely the wrong size.... far too small.

I'm guessing the plugs I got sent are meant for the "budget" kit, which I guess has smaller drain holes.

I've eMailed them with the problem but, while waiting for a reply, has anyone else come across this recently ???

Don't the "genuine" hilos have bleed nipples for the drain holes? Or am I thinking of something else?

Plastic plugs? to go where? *Confused* I have both set up's the adjusta rides are totally solid and the original Hi-los never came with any plugs.

Adjusta rides came from the Mini shop and the Hi-lo's from Mini spares.

The HiLo aluminium part has a drain hole, obviously intended for the front vertically mounted one only, to stop water collecting around the threaded part.

On the rear, it could trap water as the orientation of the hole would be random and could act as a filler rather than a drain, so needs to be plugged.

The plugs are provided with the rear part of the kit, it's just that they are the wrong size.....

So it seems I've been given something none of you have ever seen before....
It isn't really necessary, which is just as well as it doesn't fit....
But in case any of you think I'm going senile in my old age...

It says "and plugs" on the box :)

No, can't be bothered, I'll do as Sprocket says but use Bostik NG-165 instead, far superior to copperslip.

Unless MiniSpares come up with the right size plug *happy*

The early ones have grease nipples....The ones that can only be adjusted by the hexagonal rod.

Interesting...

These still have the internal hexagon for adjustment outside (as well as the later spanner adjustment and locknut)...

Maybe the drain hole is something new ????

I got plugs - they didn't fit either.

I thought the hole was actually to allow you to insert a screwdriver (or something) to stop the hilo turning when trying to adjust them (especially when the car is jacked up and the suspension unloaded).

It can't really be a drain hole at the front as it isn't at the bottom of the 'well' inside the hilo is it?
But I agree that the pugs are 'intended' to stop the back ones from filling with shite - I covered the holes with some black gaffer tape in then end.

I agree you would have thought so from the outside..... but from the inside

Yes it is at the bottom of the front ones.....

Unless MiniSpares get back to me, I'll plug the back ones with "something... :)

There is apparently much more of the aluminium threaded than I would have expected, so the hole is higher than expected... :)
