right i know its a gay french shed but its reliable and gets me around the place pritty well apart from the masses of body roll and it being a little tail happy.

can anyone recomend some cheap upgrades i could do to try and help out my stance and handeling at speed, things others may have tried in the past, im getting the tracking done this week before combe as i have changed one of the lower arms.

hope this makes sence because im not sure it does to me =/

yours paul :)

Pretty standard fair for any modern car (or old car for that matter) dampers, springs, bushes. After that it starts getting more expensive.

If you really can be arsed then GTI stuff would be the easy and cheap way to sort it, and don't do the front and not the rear as it will understeer like a pig

But I'd recommend spending your dosh on the mini and leave it as a reliable runabout.

Don't do the beam by knocking the arms off and putting them back on one spline round - this is what fucks beams, and gives you very little adjustability to get the car sitting where you actually want it.

The torsion bars should be slid out, the arm moved how ever far you want to lower it (ie 40mm) and then the torsion bar slid back into place until it engages its splines. Bear in mind that on the 106, the torsions bars are locked in place at both ends by a T40 torx bolt and an offset washer which is sat in a groove.

This of course makes it sound easy - its usually anything but easy, due to years of crap build up around the torsion bars and the bolts holding them in, and they're a complete bastard to get out. I've been soaking mine on my GTi in penetrating oil for the last 3 days before I even think about trying to pull them out!

I believe Saxos have stiffer torsion bars? These will fit according to my mate at work who rallies a 106

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i think the gti's did as well, IIRC they are colour coded, i know my gti ones were red (so they must be faster ones! *happy*)

i found dropping the rear suspension easy, only thing i did is drop the strut and smash the abs sensor when fitting the front springs!

I was 18 when i had my 106gti btw! and not every chav had one as they hadnt been out long! *smiley*
