Last week i had to go look at a job in Kensington which from where i was staying in Potters Bar, meant travalling across town. Sat Nav said 16 miles so i set off. I then realaised i was entering the congestion charge zone, which i thought would probably be like the M6 toll where some muppet is there waiting to take your money from you, not likely. Anyways, i completely forgot to pay it and now, penalty on doorstep for £60

Is it just me or do you think its unfair for getting fined, just for forgetting to do something?

I agree its disproportionate to the crime I think, esp as its something you are paying for in VED, and petrol tax..

I kind of agree that it is a lot for a first offence, but it has to be a value that makes people pay up in the first place.

It is probably more annoying because you did genuinely think about it.

I once fell asleep and forgot to pay it, I ran up at 8am the next day and they wouldnt let me
