I was told the other day by a mini 'specialist' that when fitting metro hubs to a mini, if you fit the metro top arm then it puts the suspension geometry back where it should be.

I was sceptical to say the least (nod's and smiles politely). Was just wondering if anybody had seen/heard of/tried this?

I'm of the impresion that it may well fit and get the wheels in roughly the right place, but it will do doubt alter lots of other things along the way....

leeds/wakefield.

Metro arms are different no doubt about it, i recently made a pair and took a jig from origional, but without checking one on the other i'll say it will not cure any differences,

Aren't metro top arms a lot longer - like at least 2" longer?

The chap reckoned that they had taken the design of the metro arm and put a 'upward bend' in it to bring the hub back in to line. Aparently the didn't have CAD in those days....

I have a metro frame sat around, so I might have a measure....

isnt the taper slightly different on mini's and mk2 on metro's?

when mixing and matching parts, best check the tapers match the bjs

The biggest difference will be the ratio of 'spring' units

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

One of his other mod's that he told me about was chopping and rewelding the bulkhead so that you could fit a metro pedal box, servo and master cylinders.

Again I'm sceptical due to space issues, but as usual I'm open to being proven wrong...

Why the fuck would anyone want to do that?

The only reason I can think of is to have a servo AND to keep some space in the engine bay.

Personally, I just push the pedal that bit harder....

metro servo and master cylinders setup is really shite. Why would anyone do that? I changed mine (which was metro) to a twin bias setup and its the dogs, even without a servo.

also, make a note of the shocker mount position on the upper arm. do you want shockers pointing inwards?
