I had a really good time at Castle Combe yesterday, and as it was the first time I have driven round a track wanted to find the limits of the car. Well my 88 banana 1275 engine is definately not cutting it. So I'm either going to do a turbo if it can be made to rev, or screamer of a 1380.

One observation was that it needed more grip. Although it still made a bit of a mess of a brand new set 165/55/12 yoko A048R tyres in medium compound.

what could be done to improve grip levels with the existing set up? I fancy a set of 10"s but wonder if the yoko A032 tyre in soft compound will provide any more grip then the current tyre. I don't fancy putting 13's on it in the quest for grip.

One thing to note though is that the suspension has only been roughly set up, I ran out of time to get that done. The car was not twichy or anything. It did seem to want to understeer a bit though.

front suspension
1.5 degree negative camber bottom arms
adjustable tie bars
Spax adjustable shocks
Std donuts

Rear
Adjustable camber and tracking brackets
Spax adjustable shocks
Std donuts

Thoughs please
James

It's more important to know how the wheels are adjusted, than to know that you've got the possibility..

I'm running these 12" tyres for the next racing season, and if they're new/good, there is not much more you can do. Fit an LSD, those are worth EVERY penny!

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I ought to mention that its not as if there was a lack of grip, I could not commit fully to the corners If I was behind most of the cars because it caught them rapidly.

was awesome fun in a bit of clear air.

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

shane had some problems with abit to much over steer we dialed out the rear shocks a few clicks with seemed to work for him. personally i would get the suspension setup properly before you do anything else, also if they were brand new tyres they dont tend to grip the best for a little while.
for this year at combe i folded my rear seats changed the tyres to some good ones one the front and budget on the rear the car griped alot better and i got 5mph more down the strait even with ollie as a passanger as i could push it so much harder on the last corner.
