Got one of the replica Metro Trubo fuel pumps, but it's not marked up with a flow direction.

Which end is in? The end with the wires, or the other end?

Done a search but couldn't find anything...

EDIT - One of these:

The Outlet from the tank needs to be the same Id as the inlet of the pump. If you utilise the original tank outlet you stand a very good chance of cavitating the pump. GinoR32's tank is a good example

So... I'm going to have to bastardise my sender after all and get some 8mm pipe in there some how...

I wouldn't worry about it. Austin Rover certainly didn't on the original Metro Turbo. As long the the outlet from the tank has a decent head of fuel it will work fine.

My plan was:

8mm hose orginal tank sender to T piece.
8mm hose from T to filter.
8mm hose from filter to pump.
8mm hose from pump clamped down ( 3 clamps and a big overlap) to the original 6mm supply pipe.
run a 8mm copper return
8mm hose from return to T piece.

Does anybody see a problem with this setup as I'm kind of under the car doing it now (not right now thus second, but you know what I mean)...

It's on the metro van BTW.
