Okay all, I'm asking for an honest opinion.

I have a 1963 shell, has all the parts minus the front end, needs a new one of those from the a panels forward, but other than that is extremely solid. Now for the downer, it's been deseamed, not necessarily a bad thing, but I was going to do a resto, and didn't notice this little detail. Now that I have the shell, what shall I do with it? I'm thinking turn it into a racer, with a 1380 lump in it, stripped out interior with roll cage and what nots. What do you all think? This route, or would you go a different way? I use my current mini for racing, but she's also my daily, hard to run her both ways so I have to be a little ginger on the track. Opinions appreciated!

Chemical metal *happy*

I agree, it can never be a true resto once it's been deseamed, but it'd make a great race car. Keep your other mini for the street.

The way I see it, if a car is a solid original car and potentially rare, then it should be kept that way. But if it's a boring city or something that needs a lot of work to get it back to original spec/condition then it's fair game for modification.

It wouldnt be too hard to attatch new seams, but its a prime opportunity to make it into a MiniSprint which wouldnt have seams

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

As it's been deseemed already, make it into a sprint.

Where do you live? As I'm in the U.S., so it would be really expensive to post it to the U.K. Plus, I've got some money invested into it already in way of gear box and steering, so I would want atleast that much back.

Ask yourself this how many 1963 shells are there in the US? Not many I would wager. I have seen plenty of seamless cars from that period and they all look bloody smart. If you rebuild it into a road going car you will be glad you never turned to the dark side.
