Hi all

started taking the cones out of the front subframe today using my cone compressor tool first one came out ok, screwed the compressor in to the second cone put under tension and ping! the threads in the cone stripped. *angry*
How do i now take the rubber cone out of the subframe cos the tool now jus pulls out of the cone! :(

take the bottom arm off? might be another way, but i cant think of it right now.....

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

Yer im fitting hi lo's wanna get the top arm off too to replace the pin. Pain in the bum really lol :(

you can just about get an angle grinder in and cut thruogh the trumpet then pop it out i did that and it workd=s leaves the trumpet shagged though but youve got your hi low on neway.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

I have got round this before by tapping the cone out to a larger size with a long tap and then making an adaptor up to fit my cone compressor.
If you have got access to a machine shop then not too hard to do.

Yer im gonna have to do that to fit new cones cos got an imperial compressor tool and need to make a metric converter i work in a workshop so not a problem. The cone is now out knocked the upper arm pin out and it came out. :)
Now iv gotta paint and rebuild the subframe.

I had enough clearance to pop mine out once the bump stop rubber under the top arm was removed and the top arm was disconnected from the hub - have a feeling that my cones were a little worn though as other people have not been able to do it this way. Try removing the above mentioned parts and see if there is any play between the trumpet and top arm, if there is you can just undo the top arm, slide the pin out and the cone assy will fall out.
