So it is 12".

Who in historics uses 12", I thought that they all used 10s. then people who know best use 13s.

12s are a middle ground, my favorite actually, but no-one makes 12" slicks.

Don't be so ignorant my dear friend... There is a class in FIA up to 71. We're allowed 6X12 wheels. 13s are illegal.

I always get confused with the cut off in dates for vintage hisorics etc. Surely no mini in 1971 came with 12" wheels? Of course this will show more of my ignorance, but I though the 12" wheel was first fitted to the 1275GT in '74.

It hasn't really got to do with what they were delivered with. No Minis were ever delivered with Arden og Mowog 8 ports either. Its' got to what BMC homologated for them.

Because back then, and possibly now, you could get MUCH better tyres in 12". As you can see from the picture of the Britax, the OD is larger as well combating excessive heat.

Interesting, shit's on everyones arguments that 10s are better, when even the fastest minis of the day binned them for 12s

I guess tyre technology has moved forward since 1969, now you (as you mention) cannot at all get slicks in 12" but I'm under the impression that it was the increased rolling diameter that was the biggest benefit back then.

I cannot admit anything, but my car certainly felt more stable on A048Rs and 5X12 than A032 on 6X10. When that is said, I guess much of it was down to the setup of the car.
What surprised me alot was that there seem to be little difference in weight between the 10s and the 12"s, but 13" are significantly heavier.
I've also read that A048 is a "new" tyre, whereas A032R is really old hat. It's not only the thread that's different.

leeds/wakefield.

so you all love the new design centre then, not lol .

i'm having some eight spoke machined up as wee speek, but the plain disk is for fitting purposes only, although i'm goning to make them available if anyone likes that kind of thing,

This is the newest to the range and is 6X12" same offsets as revs and mambas etc. but with a possibility to go wider for those looking to be that blittle bit different,
i'm sure there is a market outside the mini for those in historic racing cars that have to run 12" wheels
