some of you may have seen my mini and the harness point is mounted on the rear panel were the backseat is monuted. (dont know the proper name). it has a brace in the boot welding the mount, diagonally, to the boot floor.

alright but need a larger tank fitting (1gallon isnt big enough for general use) and in my opinion that panel is not strong enough to mount onto alone!

im getting a cage and looking into the possibility of having a harness bar. But any ideas that may be cheaper/lighter would be appreciated.

thanks in advance
Sam

harness bar between the legs is easiest, then just wrap the harness round.

ive got to be carful as i dont think i can weld to a cage. nor can i make a bolt on addition my self.
if i wasnt trying to follow regs id weld in a bar between the rear diaganal and rear stay.

What do you compete in? MSA section Q allows welding to a cage, as long as it's good quality and the correct tube is used.

My belts attach on the back seat panel. I have welded some strengthening in and kept it as low as possible.

Won't the Safety Devices bar fit? If it does, then Bob's your aunt!

yea but its quite a large peice of kit and expensive. if i could get away with weld in strength plates and eye bots, would be lighter and cheaper.
I look at panels and go ' thats not strong enough' or ' too many holes it that panel' lol

the sd bolt in door bars are a universal fit, you can cut them down and use as dash/door/harness/diagonal as you see fit

only £70 or so too

i wouldnt of thought they would charge much to put a proper welded in harness bar.

their door bars are so much better than SD ones as well.

If the roll centre are doing the cage anyway then i would have thought it wont be very much extra for just a straight harness bar.

When I phoned up to order my cage from rollcentre, the chap was more than helpful and went through all options with me to make sure I was happy.

I would say your best bet would to call rollcentre, chat through with him what you want and get a confirmed price.

Atleast that way, if it is more expensive than you were hoping you can look at alternatives. I'd imagine you'd be kicking yourself if you did the cheaper option then found rollcentre would do it for not a lot more.
