just spotted a van i quite fancy thats been written off Cat C, it hasn't been repaired yet but is still taxed/mot'd. can i legally drive it around till the MOT is up? or will the DVLA keep the V5 untill its been VIC checked, which i guess i need to do and pay for before i can use it?

as far as i can tell from the pics it needs a tailgate and a bumper, or just a good beating with a bfh to straighten it out.

Its an odd one, you will have the tax and test, but the logbook won't come back in your name until you've been for the VIC check. Plus the fact that I guess insurance won't be valid as its not in your name.
Having said all that, I VIC checked a car and as long as you are happy its genuine then its a piss ball, book the appointment, turn up and within 1/2hr you are done.

For your Vic. Make sure! I mean really make sure that the vin plate on the front slam panel is there.

As a result, i have a mini thats sat on my drive, that i cant do anything with. Cant drive it, cant move it, cant sell it.

It currently has no registration. So i cant insure it, and therefore cant get it through any tests. Stumped. I might just strip it to be honest.

I tried this. But this put me into a catch 22 again of full heller potential.
