I am tempted by a set of +20 challenge pistons which have been previously used.

Should I smugly save myself a few quid or would I be a wally to buy some "bent?" pistons?

What do you think.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

The ebay ones are bound to go silly. What do you reckon ?150?

Having said, you might save a few hundred quid, but who wants oval pistons? I heard a rumour about used pistons and was wondering how much ovality is OK. Depends how much money you are prepared to risk on something which could be shagged.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

Forgotten more than most ever know

Well, new pistons are oval as well. I would not worry about that, it?s a simple thing of sizing the bores according to the piston skirts.

With used pistons you really need to worry about cracked ring lands, worn ring lands, replacement ring packs etc. If the ring to groove tolerances are excessive your pistons are basically scrap, no matter what the mileage.

I think I might just fork out for some new ones. I would rather do the job properly. I can't afford to do both.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
