Hi guys, currently have a turbo'd 1275cc mg metro engine fitted to a mini clubman, has all the factory turbo manifolds/engine/gearbox, and is fitted with a T3 garret turbo with T2 exhaust housing. we have had the car run on the dyno and under load is not boosting, there is no vacum leaks anywere to be detected and the boost guage rarley moves of the negative 10 on the vacum side of the guage. Does anybody have any suggestions as to were to start looking to fix the problem we are having???

Thanks guys!

Is the wastegate stuck open?

Disconnect the actuator arm from the wastegate and check that it is fully shutting, and that there is some preload on the arm keeping it shut.

Also check the inlet pipe to the turbo, has this collapsed, causing a restriction?

Must admit, sounds like wastegate to give no boost at all.

Also worth trying ......

If standard plenum, it's worth checking the black safety blow off valve is actually fitted and seated prperly.

The vacuum/boost gauge signal pipe needs to be taken from the manifold side of the carb not the plenum side (made this mistake myself before).

The actuator signal pipe should come from one leg of the brass connector on the compressor housing with the other leg going to the boost control valve. Cant remeber which but one of these signal lines has a T piece that takes the signal to the ECU, if you have it fitted.

Plenty of threads on TM giving you diagrams and references to the plumbing involved. Worth a look to check it's all connected correctly.

Good luck.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
