Seeing as we are unlikely to make this months RR day now we have decided to do a bit more work on the vans engine.

Our proposed spec now stands at. Anything I miss from the below assume standard 1275 components

A+ 1275cc Metro Engine
Metro Turbo Pistons
New Cam Bearings, Mains, Shells and Thrusts
New Standard Oil Pump
New Water Pump
MG Metro Cam
Cast Duplex Timing Gear
Keith Calver Stage 3 Head (worked to have 28cc chambers and a quick overhaul)
Standard Sintered Rockers
Standard Metro T3 with Avonbar Billet Actuator
Flowed Exhaust Manifold and Ported Elbow
Metro Turbo Carb on Turbo Inlet
K and N Turbo Air Filter
Standard Pre-Verto Flywheel
Backplate Lugs Machined
Fast Road Plate
9 Drive Straps
Grey Cover
Low Mileage JKD 1:1 SC Drops
Low Mileage Standard 998 A+ Gearbox
New Tran-X X-Pin Diff with 3.1 Final Drive
V3 Megajolt

Any comments or advice would be welcomed *smiley*

We are hoping to run about 150 nana's at the flywheel would the above be good for this? Will the box survive if we treat it with some sympathy or will it fail horribly?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Also, bear in mind that we have no moeny to spend and have started to rob parts from our respective mini project builds...

Can you actually bring yourself to treat it sympathetically though? I was trying to treat my engine with sympathy at castle combe last weekend and it never fell below 5500 rpm for both track sessions.

An old SC box or gearset from somewhere would be nice but lack of budget is the problem.

Fair point on the sympathy though. We were supposed to have a 6250 rev limit at avon this year and am sure I saw 7K+ a couple of times.

I never saw 7k when I drove it, but then I didn't dare take my eyes of the track...

if your running a grey spring on a pre verto id look at the oil fed thrusts mod, cheep but seems to be a good option http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=196529

and for the box a good read is here http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=168594 *happy*

and i know a std 1275 pump is adequate( my thread is somewhere) but my powerflow pump was only 31 quid from minits

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

I kept alternating. Maybe we should put a shift light on top of the dash.

was reading the gearbox thread earlier, we have s/c drops which will help with that...

Fast Carl Thrusts is certainly something to think about...

I've seen these threads Brett. I think Robert was using helical drops which may have contributed to his gearbox failure but I may be wrong.

The oil fed thrusts is something worth considering but again it will be touching on our non existant budget.

Errm. You can think about Carl thrusting if you like but I will pass!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I have a cheap shift light wired to the MJ and positioned ahead on top of the dash. When it lights up you shift almost automatically-works for me.

'Where does the engine go?'
