NEW ZEALAND - moving to Australia

hey people justed want to get peoples thoughts bout this, im about to start mounting my turbo ( over the bell housing ) and i wanted to no are they free standing so they just hang off the manifold and exhust piping or do people prop them up off sumin, so any 1 with a bell housing mounted turbo drop me a line or atach a pic cheers. :)

I'm still building mine, but although the manifold will hold the turbo weight, no problem, I'm going to put a double spherical jointed rod down to the transfer case to stop any vibration breaking welds.

ahh thats whos manifold i have pics of, love it Paul *wink*

if going to all the trouble of making a manifold its not much hassle to put in a support bracket for peice of mind i am going to...

Don't use a fixed bracket. You need to allow for considerable expansion in at least two axis.

ive got a similar setup waiting to go on, however mine was made by a pikey and dosent have the two pipes going to the turbo, so prob has lots of lag built in, im gona fix a flex bracket to the cold side to be safe as it will flex a lot with heat

hey thanks for the reply, think ill use ur idea and put sumin in, also that manifol u have there how good u reckn thats gona be, cos im havin a guy build my manifold on monday and its just goin to be a log manifold, maybe looking at urs i should rethink my idea cos a log manifold is gona be lagy as isnt it ?

haha my bad ok im going to use the idea of proping the turbo up with something... not sure wat tho, also the manifold i am having made is a log type which is shaped like this L...L...L...
if u can see wat i mean, and looking at that idea i dont think its gona be that flowing so might see if i can get something made like the picture above*tongue*

is that clear enuff bro

Paul has a build thread somewhere for that manifold. from memory it goes in to lots of detail on manifold design and why he made that one.

o ok swt wel ill have a wee look around before i head off to bed, also i would like to know some one said to me that i should have a once pice flange, wats everyones thoughts, cos some people saying just have a 3 single pices....

I'm not being a cunt, but it really makes things hard to read, and lots of very experienced users of the forum will not bother to try and read it, hence you are missing out on useful advice.

Just my advice, take it or leave it.
