Big spec MED Turbo engine complete with 'box etc.... and complete subframe - now with individual prices

Unfortunately its time for me to sell up and change direction with the Mini (for now anyway, I'm terrible for changing my mind!). So I have the following on offer:


MED 1293cc
Centre main strap
Drilled & tapped for 11 stud
Hardened crank, balanced with ultralite flywheel & backplate, alcon paddle, grey cover
Omega 15cc dished pistons
ARP rod bolts
MED Piper T2 turbo cam
Duplex timing gear
Cometic triple layer steel headgasket
MED 11 stud cylinder head, 29.5cc chambers, 36mm inlet & 30mm exhaust 21ns stainless steel plasma nitrided valves with waisted stems and 3 angle valve seats, silicon bronze high flow valve guides, fully modified ports with full guide boss removal and matched to turbo manifold gasket, double valve springs
MED gold 1.5 roller tip rockers
Rebuilt Metro Turbo gearbox, with new bearings, layshaft, baulk rings etc… & 4 pin diff with 2.95:1 final drive
1:1 straight cut drop gears

Engine has done approx 3500 miles since new, and gearbox has done approx 1000 miles since rebuild. Engine will be supplied complete with standard Metro Turbo exhaust and inlet manifolds, a standard good condition T3 turbo (no smoke, no in/out play) plus oil supply/drain etc… and a standard Metro Turbo carb (although the choke has been removed and sealed up due to a leak when on a long journey!). I will also supply a couple of distributors (proper turbo ones) but I’m not sure they work properly as I haven’t used them.

£1800 for the lot.



Once the engine is sold, I will also have for sale a complete solid front subframe (single tower bolt), was repainted earlier this year but could do with doing again. The subframe is fitted with 1.5 degree fixed bottom arms with nylon bushes, adjustable heavy duty tie rods with nylon bushes, standard top arms, poly bump stops and rebound buffers, new ball joints, new wheel bearings, metro turbo 4 pots with green stuff pads and new vented discs, new braided hoses, new copper brake lines, CV joints and pot joints (which were replaced last year) and drive shafts.

I can get pictures up of anything anyone wants to see. I won’t sell the subframe until the engine has gone.

Might be worth pricing things up seperately too as I reckon people would be interested in a number of components if you were to split the engine/subframe etc.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

yeah i found it much better to split to be honest. quicker and even though i've still got a few bits to sell i've made the money i would of done complete.

Its also easier for people to see what they're getting when its stripped

OK guys, had a think about this, and although I've got someone thinking about the whole thing at the moment, no offers have been put on the table.

So, with that in mind, I'm putting up some individual prices here - I will collect a list of people who want things (as Iain did with the Miglia) and then if the current guy doesn't go for it, then I will sell individually. Obviously, I will not split until all or at least the majority of it has confirmed buyers.

So prices as follows:

Block, crank, rods, pistons, cam, followers, oil pump, timing gear (basically short engine) £600
Complete cylinder head £400
Flywheel, backplate, sintered paddle, grey cover £200
MED 1.5 rockers £140
ARP 11 stud kit £70
Gearbox complete with 4 pin diff £300
Minisport 1:1 drop gears £130


I'm open to sensible offers on bits, and as I say, I'll keep a log of who wants what. Ideally collection would be best as most of it is heavy, but stuff like the rockers, ARP's, drop gears could be posted.
