If this is the car I am thinking it is, It burned a valve at this years Minis Vs Beetles on the first run. It was still quick!!! and makes an awsome Whoosh noise when the dump valve lifts *happy*

For the life of me I cannot remember the chaps name, but I got chatting to him at MvB. He says he tends to keep himself to himself, so if you want to know anything about the set up, you lot need to get your arse to more events *tongue*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That looks just right. Big intercooler, big actuated dump/bypass valve.

Shame about the carb :)

I spoke to the cahp about that and he said that all that electricery was just too complicated. Each to their own I supose.

i guess you were at the newark show aswell?? i got chatting to the guy for a bit and if i remember correctly he said it it was pretty much a turbo engine with the supercharger fitted using a modded pully and to give 20 psi and i think he said 140 bhp last time it was dyno'd

ps it did sound stonking tho, also im sure it was a minus shell as they always seem shorter and this had a lited rear bonnet for that reason i think.

It's a good technical achivement, but that's not a right lot of bananas for 20psi....

I think there's a lot more power to be found with a better charger, cam and some head work.

that doesn't sound right to me at all.

Vmax claim 140-150bhp from the MPI M45 kits, and I'm sure Jonnysti saw 155 at slark from his suck through M45 with a webber

Surely blowthrough with a decent IC should easily match that?

I'm sure the Vmax kits, and the one jonny used only ran about 10psi

I also remeber reading that the M45's whern't very efficient at much more than 10PSi. Maybe he's spinning the charger too fast to get the best from it....

Thats right. It was 155bhp but dont know the boost as i never had a gauge. Well im hoping for a lot more than 155 from the new setup but then i have had the head re worked and the internals changed to match as the MED block i had wasnt made around the charger as i never planned to get one. Just got to sort the boost at idle and then straight onto the rollers!!

Nice setup though. Massive I/C has got to help. Mine is smaller and a neater setup but if it works it works, no mateer how it looks. Fair play to the guy

yeah it is which makes it even more impressive he has managed to cram all that under the bonnet! the car was at avon this year, the guy had it up for sale for around the 10k mark if i remember correctly. think it was on ebay a while back too. tis quite smart :)

This does have me a little conserned though. If i got 150plus bananas with a very inefficient VMax setup, how comes he is only getting 140 from a proper setup? I would have thought it would have been better than that. I know i am expecting more than before.

Think I've posted these on here before, but this is what Slark's are working on:

Uses a bike alternator on a dog drive. I'm keeping my eye out for a feature on this in the mags soon.
jonnysti, why do you say the VMax is so inefficient? And how come these superchargers are so inefficient in the first place?
