I was re-sorting pipe work to follow neater routes earlier, and thought to use this pipe for vac/boost signal. and so attached the carb end to my guage. no joy.

Then i remembered the valve in the other end.

so, question time!

while attached to the guage it showed no VAC at all.
Should it? or is it stuffed anyway?
as i assume (most prob incorrectly) that it is just a controlled "leak" in the manifold to lean out the mix.

And i dont want to shove it into my built up manifold just because i got curious, and give myself work to do. Is there a trick beyond a screw and claw hammer for withdrawing it?

the motor is not too far above standard t3

any comments very welcome
Regards
Colin

There are contrary views on here about this, but all I can say is that I put a 1/8" drill through it and used it as the port for the boost guage no problem.

From my own experience and from the views shared in many posts this pipe is the harbinger of many woes.

For the less performance minded driver of which none of us are this additional pipe and the effect it has on your roll on from cruise throttle response is of no issue. But for most of us the seemingly huge flat spot it produces is intolerable. But you probably know this!

Put a drill through it and be done! Its akin to what I have done.

Good stuff guys, thanks.
It is said if you want the right answer, ask in the right place.... Or is it, the answer you "want", is the right one to look for!!
either way, the place is here.

Drill holes in everything!!

Thanks
Colin
