hi all
just done a bit of work on the metro turbo , running very well now , but as i went for a spin( 1st time driving a turbo A series that is running spot on)as i pulled up after giving it a bit of welly the brakes have locked on solid, i,m assuming servo maybe??

I have had a brake bias valve go funny and lock the rears on.

jack each corner up and see if ALL the wheels are locked, if so it pointing to the servo.

if its just one corner it could be a brake hose,

if its diagnals it could behalf the servo depending on the plumbing.

also release the bleed nipple on the affected wheel(s) if theres no pressure there it sugests somthing at the caliper/ drum.

pushrod from pedal to servo or servo to master cylinder is too long holding the master cylinder slightly closed. as the fluid heats up it expands, has nowhere to go so the brakes lock on. This is a really common problem with aftermarket master cylinders on the 16vminiclub. perhaps you have missed an ajsutment somewhere or a spacer washer or some such, either way, check it out.

You are already hooked! your sole elongs to TM now *evil*

If you can drive it or move it once cool you may have a caliper issue, check the condition of the discs and pads and do the bleed niple check first as its the easiest test.

sorry to hijack, but i am having the exact same problem. when driven around for a while they lock on solid!!
just been reading a few old threads and may have found something.
am i right in thinking that the top hole on the matser cylinder (yellow tag) goes to the rear and bottom to the front??
if so i have mine the other way around, could this be causing the problem?

We had a similar problem with the TT. It turned out that the bush on the pedal was fubar, so the spring wouldn't return the pedal.

First thing to try.

on my conversion instead of using the non servo brake pedal, ive adapted the servo pedal to take the master cylinder rod.
could this be the cause, do the pedals have a different throw?

i found today that my pedal was fouling on the down stroke where it goes into the bulkhead, not allowing it to be fully released, havent had time to try it tho.

steve have you got a new master cylinder on yours?

no mate all as i bought it, i drove it home 110 miles no braking issues at all.
the brakes came on gradually until they locked solid, left till the next day they are off again.
