with the front up on axle stands, ive always dropped the top arms to ping the pots off of the drive shafts, i've never tried it with the arms intact - can it be done?

yeah you kind ahave to "wiggle" the engine 1 side and then t'otehr. awful fidly tho, but the quickest way to take the lump out. IMHO.

It can be done but for the sake of undoing 2 off 11/16" nuts and splitting the top b-j I have never seen the point of struggling.......

Get yourself a scissor type splitter so you don't knacker the balljoint and you are away.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

I sometimes dont bother when taking engines out as its easy enough to shuffle on the engine crane but always take them off when putting an engine in.

Just sometimes easier to keep the car on its wheels when taking the engine out. depends how fussed i am about bits and bobs and what im taking out.
