with the front up on axle stands, ive always dropped the top arms to ping the pots off of the drive shafts, i've never tried it with the arms intact - can it be done?

yeah you kind ahave to "wiggle" the engine 1 side and then t'otehr. awful fidly tho, but the quickest way to take the lump out. IMHO. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

It can be done but for the sake of undoing 2 off 11/16" nuts and splitting the top b-j I have never seen the point of struggling.......

I sometimes dont bother when taking engines out as its easy enough to shuffle on the engine crane but always take them off when putting an engine in.
