hi guys, well have gotten to the stage of my project where i need to decide on a exhaust, but i have a few doubts.

1. since i have installed a t2 turbo and need to make a exhaust elbow, what diameter should i make it?

2.should i make the rest of the exhaust with the same diameter?

3. i was thinking of making a striaght through exhaust, no back box just a nice exhaust tip. would this make me loose power or would i gain some power with this?

thanks for all the help in advance.

cheers

Yes
Itll be mega offensive, i tried this and it was just too loud, get a decent straight through silencer and it will make the world of difference

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I dont know, I couldnt live with it, i dont think a silencer is holding me back, its straight through anyway apart from the perforated holes. Adding a 45deg bend for a tail pipe quietened it down too

My neighbours are really good when it comes to noise, but even i was too ashamed to leave the car warming up on the drive, start it up before 9 or after 21.30

And when I interrupted a wedding in the village and had to crawl through whilst everyone moved out of the way it was just the final straw

lol, well my down pipe used to have a habit of popping off, and when it did so,it was aweful, sounded....coolish but too much,
any one runnig over 2" ?
3" maybe?
silencer's give them a nice tone too.
without one it just sounds like a bus,
must admit i do like the whistle of the turbo on boost..

I use a 2 1/2" tight bend http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...code=JETU034590

Then after the bend reduced it to 2" for the rest of the system. And I always use a silencer.

so what would the ideal diamter be? if not to gain more power, at least so you dont loose any.

2" would be the easiest to fit down the back of the engine. i wanted to go for 2.5" but it was just too much of a headache for me to be arsed with.

Another thing to consider, if you use an exhaust with no back pressure at all, this can apparently make the turbo smoke from the oil seals.
