i cant really see the point in having to fork out 350 notes for a mirage kit, can i either make my own ie: i need the angles etc guys or can i buy the pipes from them and weld them together myself as i am a prof welder by trade so hence thats easier

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Point is you are paying for the time spent on design and development for a unit that you can just bolt on to your engine and fire away.

By all means make your own, many have done, but dont expect to just get the dimensions from here and/or the pipe work from mirage.

If I could weld then I'd make my own. the Mirage is a nice kit, but if you could competently make one it's not to difficult.

I could do with a manifold to fit a GT15 with no bulkhead mods.

I thiunk Paul s may have had some excess flanges for sale at some point, he'll also help with tube spec and supply I'm sure.

Let's not all get bogged down with copying again, he wants to make his own not a copy to sell.

the design shows a distinct lack of imagination,

I designed and made my own:

Firstly, because when I wanted one the mirage supply chain had broken and they were not available and secondly, because I had to gear up to make a special inlet manifold anyway.

It cost me a lot more in the end if you include the time and the cost of the tools.

I think a side mount has the potential to make more power.

Yes, I made one ,

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.p...tid=146920&fr=0

I kept the price down by making mine in mild steel from schedule 40 pipe and Mig welding it. . The T2 flanges are easy to get, the head flanges I think are available in the UK (Demon tweaks?)

Its been a couple of years now and no problems. Never did see point of making another one in stainless, it still looks good

Problem is the exact geometry, In the end mine was angled down 45 degrees for a GT1548 but you have to be exact, I spent
a huge amount of time working it out using the e-machine shop software.

But if anyone wants my files I'll send them..
