Check out that back-to-back compressor wheel, and the twin feeds for the turbine. I have a sneaky feeling no-one will be offering hybrid turbo setups anytime soon LOL

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

The two stage compressor on turbo chargers might be a new thing, but the company I work for has been maufacturing up to 10 stage centrifugal compressors since the 50's. Not the kind of thing you would find on an engine though*hehe!*

It's definately not :) look at the tips of the two compressor wheels, they exit to a common pleniuminium, for two stage the compressor exits would have to be seperated and sealed from each other.

It's not two stage compression. two stage would have a single inlet and outlet and two volutes, one stage feeding the inlet of the other.

We used to call that sort of thing dual parallel or double entry.

it has to have 2 inlets to let gas to each side of the wheels, surely its just that simple?

One turbine driving two back to back compressors. The theory works out that your sharing the work load rather than doubleing the output or somthing like that.
