The two stage compressor on turbo chargers might be a new thing, but the company I work for has been maufacturing up to 10 stage centrifugal compressors since the 50's. Not the kind of thing you would find on an engine though On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

its not 2 stage :) turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

It's definately not :) look at the tips of the two compressor wheels, they exit to a common pleniuminium, for two stage the compressor exits would have to be seperated and sealed from each other. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

It's not two stage compression. two stage would have a single inlet and outlet and two volutes, one stage feeding the inlet of the other.

One turbine driving two back to back compressors. The theory works out that your sharing the work load rather than doubleing the output or somthing like that. Own the day
