Built from 'spares' - preverto flywheel from one engine, rod's and pistons from another, crank from a third, timing gear from a 4th etc etc

I'd be annoyed if we'd put all the effort in to building it just to have the engine fail due to skimping on a £60 balance... so would i , if it was my engine . ps still trying to find out if th servo you have will be ok on mine . steve |

In all honesty I wanted to balance it anyway but wanted an opinion before forking out hard earned. Balancing it is then.

Yep all the comments on this thread have decided it for us. For the sake of £57.50 including vat we may as well go for it! If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

After building a variety of engines with help from a mate - he came to rebuild his mum's std 1275 metro and chose to balance it. He reckoned it transformed the car and made it nice to drive! On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:

Picked the rotating assembly up last night, they said it was relativly OK for a standard crank. They've taken a fair bit of it, so it should be good now. Also, they've marked it all up so that we can get it back together the same way and keep the balance.
